Román Cárdenas Rodríguez

Assistant Professor

Román Cárdenas received an M.Sc. degree in Telecommunication Engineering in 2019 from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). While pursuing this MSc degree, he obtained an ETSIT-Empresa award for the best academic record in the major of electronic systems. He is pursuing a Ph.D. in Electronic Systems Engineering at UPM and a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carleton University (CU) in cotutelle modality. The Ministry of Universities (Spain) awarded him an FPU grant in 2020 for research on his Ph.D. thesis and a three-month FPU mobility grant to CU in 2021. He has been an assistant professor at UPM since September 2022. In 2023, he joined the RISC-V team of the Rust Embedded working group, which aims to provide robust and comprehensive tools to develop embedded systems using the Rust programming language. His research interests include modeling and simulation-based systems engineering with applications in edge computing and the IoT.
